Day 1 of clinic week features a total of 2 workshops, presented by Tension Climbing’s own Michael Rosato & Quinn Spadafora!

BOARD SETTING

Explore the fundamental route setting principles as they apply to standardized boards!


Participants will learn to analyze and use hold nuances, understand how wall angles influence movement and hold usage, and develop engaging challenges that push beyond personal setting biases—in other words, they will learn how to set a 'Classic'. 

The session will also cover strategies for delivering a high-quality, inclusive, and consistent user experience on standardized boards

AUGUST 26

Day 2 of clinic week features a total of 5 workshops, presented by Mad Rock athletes Ross Fulkerson and Zoe Beauchemin!

YOUTH MOVEMENT & MENTALITIES

Designed for youth competitors of all levels between 12-18 y/o. This clinic will prepare athletes for the complex problem-solving and mental demands of competitions. We’ll cover mental strategies, comp tactics, and practice on purpose-set boulders.

The goal is to give each participant a personalized set of tools to help them feel confident and present both while training and at competitions.

Finding your style

This clinic breaks down the basics of uncovering your unique strengths on and off the wall. We’ll start with a movement screening of a variety of exercises to assess your current strengths and weaknesses. 

We’ll explore a combination of climbing and mindset exercises that will help you learn to embrace your unique superpowers. You can expect this clinic to equip you with new tools to level up your climbing but in a playful and empowering atmosphere (recommended for V4+ climbers).

Designed for V4 climbers and up. Learn the nuances of moving efficiently, visualization, and advanced warm-up tactics. With purpose-set climbs and progression holds for varied abilities, we’ll build confidence in your movement and give you the tools you need to consistently improve.

EMBRACING MOMENUTM

Climbing is easier when you flow with the climb instead of fighting your way up it. 


This clinic is for anyone looking to learn the basics of moving with momentum on the wall - and everyone can learn how to be more dynamic! We’ll focus on tips, tricks, warm-up cues, and exercises to build your comfort level and enhance your dynamic movement skills post-clinic (recommended for V4+ climbers).

AUGUST 27

Day 3 of clinic week features a total of 3 workshops, presented by AntiGrav athletes Helen Gillett and Lucas Uchida!

(OUTDOOR) PROJECTING

Have you ever felt like you “should” be able to do a climb but can’t piece it together? Are you unsure how to approach climbs close to your limit?

 In this clinic, we will discuss and practice how to effectively break climbs down into digestible parts and manage the factors we have within our control. This clinic will be geared towards climbing outside but is beneficial for all audiences (all levels).

Projecting Methods

10:30am - 1:00pm

FROM SETTER TO CLIMBER

This clinic offers participants an experiential insight into the process and intention behind climb design and how to best identify boulders that will target areas for improvement. Together we will project specially set climbs meant to “force” certain movements and discuss what the setter is trying to teach the climber. 

Participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the nuances of route setting and significantly enhance their movement literacy (recommended for V4+ climbers).

COMP TACTICS

This clinic focuses on developing and practicing self-regulation and execution strategies for competitive environments. Participants will learn to identify and apply specific cueing techniques with effective time management, essential tools for grounding oneself amidst the many uncontrollable variables in competition.

While ideal for athletes aiming for competitive performance, this clinic also benefits anyone interested in understanding the intricacies of competition and improving performance in their own chosen arena, from personal goals to local climbing leagues.
